As soon as I saw a post on 10th May which had mentioned a personality development session with Mr. Rajan Koirala, my excitement had no limit since he had been one of the persons whom I admire the most. Without thinking of anything, I immediately accessed the registration URL. But sadly, the registration had been closed due to the very limited participants. I then pinged Dunga Event on Facebook if they could add my name to the participant list. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it to the participant’s list for Personality Development Vol. I. But they ensured me that I shall be added into the so-called; waiting list and shall be kept under their top priority next time they organize similar other sessions.
And to my surprise, their words turned out to be true yesterday. I unexpectedly received a text message from them on Facebook asking if I would be able to join the session scheduled for 17th May. From the very deep inside, I was excited enough and I was like; “Hell, yeah!”. They instantly provided me the registration URL and within a few minutes, I was confirmed as a participant for Personality Development Vol. II through the email whereby, I saw some kind of unique thing. The unique thing was none other than the personality test conducted over the web. The organizer team had asked to perform the online personality test following the link and note down the final result to get it ready before the session started. And to my surprise, they had closed the registration before my friend could register there due to the overwhelming response from the interested ones.
Unfortunately, due to getting engaged in some other stuff, I wasn’t able to accomplish the online personality test prior to the event. Now the time had come for the session. I was granted access to the meeting room on Zoom. Few of the participants were eagerly waiting there for the session to start. Ms. Sadikshya Kandel (CEO, Dunga Event) warmly welcomed the resource person Mr. Rajan Koirala and the session was started within a couple of moments.
Undoubtedly, it was a productive session. After all, it was a session of Rajan Sir with energetic youths. The participants are definitely the ones who are eager to get out of the comfort zone and leap a step at a time for a better tomorrow. The session kicked off with an introduction session where each participant was asked to share their result from the online personality test so that a few aspects of the test would be discussed and also the interest and hobbies. Most of the participants came up with the test results and concluded that it was very much relatable and would consider it to be their reflection. While carrying on the introduction session Mr. Koirala asked the participants that the result they got could be used to search for better career options by giving an example to search career options for the result of the personality type (obtained from the online personality test).
Throughout the entire session, Mr. Koirala emphasized that “self-awareness is the key while each individual should be performing a SWOT analysis and setting SMART goals on a regular basis. The goals tend to change according to the time, so it’s better to remain updated time and again. Talking about the goal setting, Mr. Koirala encouraged to further categorize the goals into financial, career, family, health, etc.
Mr. Koirala insisted not to wait for any kind of new year resolutions or similar things to get rid of the bad habits. There isn’t anything like “perfect time” to initiate. All it takes is the experimentation repeated for over a couple of weeks in a row. While having the interaction session, the participants became aware that Mr. Koirala misses his wonderful memories while working at MeroJob. One of the memories he shared was about the security guard who used to work in the same building but for a different company. The security guard used to greet everyone and give respect. One fine day, the same security guard greeted Mr. Koirala and this became the initiative point. From that day onwards, he began to have a general conversation with the guard, Ultimately, they had become very familiar with each other. While Mr. Koirala couldn’t make up in the office for few days due to some personal work and the very next day while he came to office, the guard asked Mr. Koirala if he was alright because the guard has not seen him for the last few days. This proved how close had they been to each other.
Confidence is something that boosts up one’s personality. Any person who has become successful is due to their high self-confidence. Mr. Koirala strongly recommended the participants to keep questioning, “how can one earn money while following their own hobbies and interest”. “Jack of all trades, master of none” used to be a popular statement which has now been modified as “Jack of all trades, master of one”. Mr. Koirala clarified that one must remain up-to-date with almost everything that is going on in nearby your locality, country and also excel brutally in one particular field; no matter what the field is!
We often come across most of the negative aspects of social media but Mr. Koirala shared few amazing optimistic things which literally touched my heart. It had been a few years that Mr. Koirala has been actively posting on social media about the day to day happenings. Once while he had been there in the village, the neighbors expressed that the post made by Rajan Koirala makes their day! One of the most fascinating things Mr. Koirala shared was the fact that while he cross-checked his Facebook profile, there was 85% of the female among the ones to keep their Facebook account deactivated. The name of popular banker “Anil Keshary Shah” is very popular among the youths. Since Mr. Shah and Koirala had a mutual thing; interacting with the youths, he shared a few of the experiences of Mr. Shah regarding his banking career.
The major takeaways from the session were:
1. Make sure you have a professional looking email address (with your real name either first or the last!) while applying for a job.
2. Make the most use of social medias like Facebook and LinkedIn to grow your network.
3. Remember, “Jack of all trades, master of one” is crucially important to survive in today’s world.
4. Money isn’t everything! Once you start developing strong network, you’ll automatically become rich.
5. With your behavior in an interview, the interviewer psychologically understands your current status.
In a nutshell, there had been so many learnings shared by Mr. Koirala throughout the session. Including each and every stuffs shared by him will definitely make the blog go very long. I was happy that upon the request from many participants, the Personality Development Vol. II was organized. Ms. Sadikshya added that they hit the milestone on their Facebook page by crossing the maximum post reaches. She gave a slight clue that Personality Development Vol. III might be coming soon since there had been so many interesting ones to be a part of the session. Stay tuned to Dunga Event and remain updated with the upcoming sessions! And the best part, Mr. Koirala ensured his support towards the youth in any possible ways he can if anyone is facing issues. He ended up saying, “He would love to work together with youths and help them in their career”.

Thank you Aagan for the wonderful write-up and the coverage.
